One might expect that if you have been involved in the restoration and replication of toy trains and participate with a circle of friends and customers who operate and collect antique toy trains you would probably have a top-of-the-line personal collection of toy trains. That certainly is the case for Wolfgang Bauer.
Shown in the following photos is just part of his
collection. There is not enough space in his home to display all of his trains
and from time to time the display is changed so that most of the items can be
admired over time. Note that his collection includes many replicas that he has
built. But there are a number of original rare ancient locomotives and cars
in the collection as well.

One of Marklin’s earliest boxed sets with the rare locomotive # 1020 from 1895 – 1898. Marklin made a reproduction of this locomotive, in 1 gauge, for their 100th anniversary several years ago. The Märklin box with its contents is over 115 years old and exceptionally good condition and complete!

The cover picture of this box is very interesting. All early products (2 stations, goods shed, pump room, signal box house, post office, guard house, signals, trains, rails, carriages, people ...) that Märklin would produce shortly thereafter and before 1900 and are shown in the art work. A unique contemporary document, it is worthwhile to study the cover.
